Look For Turning Points

 Q. There is a lot of confusion when we settle down to prepare a goal. I had done a lot of research on goal setting but I still get confused about how I should proceed to have a goal and then how to prepare myself to achieve that goal. Please guide me. — Mahesh K Mandwarya

Deepak Chopra: Daily life is consumed by work and family obligations that do not seem to fit a long-range goal. I’ve arrived at a sequence of steps that may clarify the problem.

Step 1: Look inside before you look outside. Fulfilment is an inner state.

Step 2: Have a personal vision. To avoid the total confusion that results, pick the highest goal that suits who you are and what you want from life.

Step 3: Build a Self around your vision. You can approach your life with a higher perspective in mind, the perspective of the Self.

Step 4: Look for turning points. Life will bring you opportunities that are not about career and family but about how to evolve.

Step 5: Life cannot grow if you don’t trust something. Trust is more like a general embrace of possibilities. n
