What Issues Would You Campaign For?

Since Time Immemorial, We've Been Filling Out Our Father's Name In All Our Documents. Never Are We Asked About Our Mothers. A Recent Ad Campaign Is Trying To Break That Trend...

Have you seen the latest commercial wherein our cricketers- Dhoni, Kohli and Rahane- are flaunting jerseys with their mother's name imprinted on it? Has it struck you? To us, it surely did strike a chord. This new ad campaign by Star Plus #NayiSoch tries to break away from the trend. Whether the campaign works at a larger level in changing mindsets or not, we cannot say but it surely heralds a new path.

We asked our Youth Reporters about a campaign that they would like to start and why. Here's what they said...

A campaign that I would like to start is 'a safer city for you.' This campaign will be directed towards spreading awareness about driving carefully on the road. There have been so many accidents where innocent lives are lost. I will involve parents first by making them understand how they should not let their children below 18 years of age to drive on the road. Further, I would also campaign for stricter laws and regulations for those who break rules.
- Adhiraaj Roy, class IX, DPS Vasant Kunj, New Delhi

I would campaign for 'better sports infrastructure.' Citing examples of recent Olympic performances, I will show people about how t he mindsets have to change in order to ensure that each child receives the best training. I will also involve people from all sports to pass on the message.
- Aditi Bhattacharya, class IX, DAV Shreshta Vihar, New Delhi

I would like to do a campaign around - "SahiSochSharpEyes" - talking about right idea and right targets in life. The bottomline of the campaign would be- a successful mother is one who has a successful daughter. The main protagonist behind the glory of a daughter is her mother.
- Ayana Paul, class XII, St. John's Diocesan Girls' HS School, Kolkata

Nowadays, frequent use of chemicals in food materials has led to surge in number of diseases.  The best way to counter this malaise is to switch to organic food. Thus, I would campaign for 'Be Organic, Bye Organic' and promote it in schools. This would generate interest in the children and deter them from eating junk.
- Osheen Rajpal, class X, CDS-KR, Nagpur

A campaign that I would like to spread awareness about is - 100% literacy in India. I will lead a group of students to go to every small town, village in my vicinity and talk about education and its importance. I may use social media to attract supporters and take all of these youngsters out to smaller hamlets and at times to remote villages and talk to the villagers and offer necessary help to them for procuring education.
- Amish Agarwal, Class X, Goldcrest High, Vashi, Navi Mumbai

I would like to start a campaign similar to the 'Clean India Campaign' that was launched in 2014 but has lost steam. There have been noticeable changes but still a lot needs to be done. Keeping our country clean is very important. So I would begin campaigning for this cause through social media as it is a platform where so many people can contribute and share ideas. The next step would be to organize cleanliness drives weekly and to assemble together a group of people who are passionate about this cause. Since I am a student, I would try to spead these ideas in my school too through posters and speeches.
- Sanjula Gupta, class XI, Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh

There are two things that I would like to campaign for. One campaign which I would like to take part in would be to spread the importance and respect for a girl child. Another campaign which I feel should be initiated in the country and one which I would gladly take part in, is one towards the cause of spreading awareness towards the meaning of feminism. This word has become quite controversial today. The campaign would be aimed towards establishing the understanding that feminism isn't something to fear and that it implies EQUAL rights. Nothing more nothing less. The campaign would also aim towards getting both girls and boys to open up if they are feminists and that they shouldn't fear the world's supposed new idea of what feminism is.
- Avni Parthan, class X, Greenwood High School, Bengaluru

Here is the video of the campaign...
