Virat Kohli Becomes Fastest To 8,000 ODI Runs

Virat Kohli has many milestones to his name. He’s ably steered the Indian team ahead after taking up the captaincy from MS Dhoni.

Now, he’s done something no batsman has. He’s stormed past 8,000 ODI runs in 175 innings and 182 ODIs. He has 27 centuries and 42 fifties to his name. In India's win against Bangladesh, he scored 96 off 78 deliveries. He went past  AB de Villiers, who achieved the feat in 182 innings. Among the Indians, he has broken Sourav Ganguly’s record, who achieved the feat in 200 innings. Sachin Tendulkar took 210 innings to reach this milestone.

What has this talismanic sportsman not achieved?! You mention a particular stat or record, he''s achieved it- or even surpassed it, perhaps. The linchpin of his ferocious pride of lions, Virat Kohli is moulding himself into an exemplary captain and batsman. He doesn''t take the role of captaincy as a pressurising one- he enjoys it. The ICC Champions Trophy is his first major ICC tournament as captain and he''s taken his team to the Final! This is genius stuff.

Virat Kohli is having a dream season (barring the IPL 2017). Despite becoming the world''s No.1 batsman, he is turning out to be the world''s No.1 poster boy as well. Fastest to 8000 ODI runs?! Are you kidding me?! That''s a crazy stat to achieve. He''s famous, he''s inspirational, he''s Virat.

Congratulations, Virat Kohli. For me, he is the world''s best cricketer. I am a huge fan of his. Reaching 8000 runs in ODI is phenomenal. Keep playing like this and make our whole nation proud. Proud of you, Captain!!
