No Restest For Class X: CBSE Sources

The CBSE today decided to not hold a re-examination for the Class 10 mathematics course, a source from the board told TOI, even though the question paper for the earlier test was leaked.

This decision holds good even for test-takers in Delhi-NCR and Haryana, the two regions where the leak reportedly took place.

The final decision of not conducting the test came after a thorough analysis and evaluation of the answer sheets showed no specific trend that the leak had impacted the exam outcome.

An official statement to this effect is expected to be made later today.

The Class 10 math examination was held March 28.

An informed source told TOI yesterday that rigorous analysis will be done to check unusual variations in marks in the coming days to enable the CBSE to figure out which answer papers indicate a leak.

Furthermore, the CBSE and HRD ministry officials believe the Class 10 examination, which is a qualifying one for students to move to higher secondary school rather than to university, could be treated differently.

"If a student has done poorly in internal assessment and does exceptionally well in the main paper and this is at variance with his other papers — then we might examine the result more carefully," said the source to TOI.

Meanwhile, the re-examination for Class 12 economics paper will take place as scheduled on April 25.

Three people, including two teachers of a private school, were arrested by the Delhi Police on Sunday for their suspected roles in leakage of the Class 12 economics paper.

The way CBSE has been dealing with the issue of class 10 paper leak, already made it very clear that the board was in no mood to re-conduct the examination(for class 10 maths). Well, abosolutely its a relief for class 10 students.

I think CBSE has taken the right judgement towards paper leak accident. It surely is a big relief for all the tenthies. And I would prefer that CBSE takes strict measures to prevent these type of activities which damper the education system of our country.

Retest was necessary to ensure equality. CBSE''s decision to not to hold retest is wrong. I am a student of class 10th and have seen first hand impact of paper leak. The retest should have been held in Delhi and Haryana at least. It should have held the inquiry first and only then announced about retest instead of creating all the havoc.

It is worst upstep by the government.By this the real talent of student cannot be incited there would no any differences between good and worst student be done.So in my point of view there should be reexamination for a literate India.
