Hate To Do Something When Forced To. Discuss

Recently, the decision of the apex court that made it manadatory for the national anthem to be played before every movie was met with mixed response. While the nation was divided in its opinion whether forced nationalism was the need of the hour, there are many celebrities who dwelled on this state of the mind - why do we rebel when something is forced upon us? The answers vary from witty to cynical to funny. Here goes...

Celebs Say We Are Born To Rebel

I am a very well turned out child. I was the most disciplined student of the class and a leader in every way. Although all decisons were met with a nod, there is something in me that would instantly rebel against a idea that was pushed down my throat. For example, the moment I was told to dress in a certain manner for a certain function; my immediate reaction would be to fight against it; even though it made perfect sense. How dare someone dictate my dressing sense even if it was for the better. (Laughs)

- Parineeti Chopra, actress

There is no problem in going with the flow and agreeing to the wide consensus but the moment someone tried to influence our opinion, that would mean trouble! Basically, we are not conditioned to hear something that doesn't suit our belief system. No one likes positive criticism or forciby submisssion.

- Mahesh Bhatt, filmmaker

We all have a mind of our own and like to function in an independent manner, but the moment someone dicatates terms; there is problem in paradise. The reason? I don't know. Maybe because we see it as a threat to our freedom, as someone trying to barge in to our personal space.

- Mary Kom, player

As long as the policy or decision is logically proven; I am game for it. But if it is a weird idea that needs to be incorporated because of some vested interest, it is but natural that people will crib. It's a natural process according to me.

Youth Reporters Say They See It As Condescending

I don't like it when I am forced to attend a social gathering or wear a particular dress for an occasion. It is my life, my way. But the same cannot be said about government policies because it concerns a vast majority of people.

Ruhi Agarwal, class XI, Mary Convent School, Delhi

There is a very thin line of difference between suggesting and forcing. While I am oopen to suggestions, I will not like it nor will I allow anyone to force their ideas/ideology on me. Isn't that a breach of personal freedom?

Vikas Seth, class XII, Bharati Public School

No one can or should force another to act in a cerain way but all situations should be treated according to merit. There is no problem in following an idea if there is some worth in it.

There is no harm in doing something when forced to , as long as it is for a good cause . Like , the playing of national anthem before film screening , for instance , must be followed , by considering it as an opportunity to promote patriotism so that we can reduce quarrels within different states of India .

I don''t know why people are dilluting the true essence and respect for national anthem by stating it as a "forced action"? Displaying patriotism is never a burden and that to in form of national anthem which symbolizes the voice of millions of Indians. Let''s not reignite another set of controversy for this.

I think nobody should never force anyone to do anything, because maybe that person will do that thing but he''ll not do it whole heartedly. Some people like me will have the feeling that if we''ll not succeed everybody is going to taunt us. The idea of playing national anthem before the starting of the movie is good but it will work only when people will get to know about it''s main purpose.

never until or unless I love it.

Well it depende entriely on the situation. Mostly I don''t because based on what all has been forced on me until now, it usually is something I will disagree to do. However, I shall judge the situation before I rebel or except. In cases like playing the national anthem, as Ananya says, it has been forced for the good and so we should follow it.

If anyone is forcing us to do something for a our good or a noble cause then , there is no objection in doing it and we should do it . But, if someone is forcing us to do a bad thing then for sure we should not do it .

Any one forces me to do something ,my way of expressing my ideas will be reduced and I dislike to talk openly even with my parents. I think that no one will listen my words and any way they are going to force me.

It doesn''t feel good doing a particular thing when we don''t like it but are forced to. If it is someone who really cares about us, then we should think about the benefits of doing it.

When we feel that something isn''t occurring according to our wish, then to voice our opinion and show dissent we start rebels. Sometimes if we are forced to do something we also become angry and start cribbing. Therefore we should judge the situation first and look what is most beneficial for us then only act.

No one can force someone to do something which the person is not willing to do. It depends on the person about what he/she wants to do and what he/she does not want to do. If one follows everything that another forces on him, the situation will seem to be like as if the person is a slave to the other one.

I judge the situation before adjusting, moreover what''s the fun of being human if we don''t use our mind to judge the situation.Even Buddha said don''t believe what your teachers tells you merely out of respect for the teacher and I think it applies to other situations too.

I feel very irritated when I am forced to do something against my wish. I will obviously not do something that does not make sense. I don''t drink alcohol and if a person forces me to do so still I won''t drink but if someone tells me to study and I am not in a mood to study still I will do so because it makes sense. So before doing something we should examine the situation.

MANAS KUMAR BAL BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (PITAM PUR

These forced actions which are not literally ''forced'' sometimes prove to be beneficial for us. So we should not dilute such things in name of ''forced'' action. While it may appear to be a negative blow to our freedom, fraternity and ideas of democracy, on the other way round it may also be beneficial for us. Hence one''s situation and perspective governs this.
