Discuss The Issues That Concern You

What would you like to add to this discussion on World Students' Day

Un-Democratic Democracy
Corruption in elections is an epidemic. It is now time for action. People have to reject the politics of vendetta and stop equating hooliganism with politics. People are the most powerful entities in a democracy. They need to come out in the open and struggle to protect the integrity of elections and in turn save the future of democracy. For how long will we continue voting for people who just don’t care about us?
Jayabrato Chatterjee, class IX, Apeejay School, Salt Lake

Conventional Thinking
It is a typical middle class tendency to push children towards medical, engineering and company secretary jobs, and I am a victim of that. Even before the child is born, the ‘buaji’ declares, “mera bhatija toh engineer hee banega,” and that’s where the ordeal begins. I had opted for physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics with psychology, but because I didn’t perform well in Maths, I opted out of it. That decision was catastrophic. My mother became hysterical and my father said, “now that you’ve left Maths, you’ll soon become psychasthenic”.
Maanya Chaudhary, a student of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Ghaziabad

World Conflicts
Wars, genocides and conflicts have left a blot on humanity. Shouldn’t we, as world citizens, be concerned that beneath the facade of ‘evolved humanity’ lurks a frightening possibility that mankind is slowly losing the ability to identify the true cause of oppression and suffering?
Tahira Afrin Choudhury, class X, Sushila Birla Girls’ School, Kolkata

Gender Stereotypes
Girls and boys should be taken as individuals. There are girls who play sports, and boys who like dressing up. It depends on what you are as an individual. If you  think girls are silly, look at PV Sindhu, Mother Teresa and Malala.
Vyshanvi Viju, class VII, Delhi Public School, Bengaluru

Child Labour
Child labour needs to be addressed urgently. Children are the hope and future of a nation. Yet, there are millions of children who would never know what a normal and carefree childhood means.
Anirudh Dixit, class XI, Children’s Academy, Mumbai

Heavy Bags
Every student is troubled by heavy bags. School bags weigh down their tiny backs, stunting their physical growth and gives them backache. Schools must do something about it. It will be a good idea to  provide us with lockers so that we do not have to carry all the  books in our bags.
Sudhanshu Singh, student, Oxford International School, Mumbai

Violence
Mother Teresa had once said,“not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love”. All that the violence creates is hate and fear. I don’t know what has happened to the ideals of ‘unity in diversity’ and patriotism.
Prakalya VP, Class VIII, Euro School, Bengaluru

Divide And Rule Policy
The root cause of unrest amongst humans was never God, but humans themselves. While along the way, religion just propagated peace and happiness, it is we who created problems and evil out of it.  A sound person wouldn’t use God to divide us, rather he would encourage spirituality through monotheism.
Aishwarya Nangia, Venkateshwar International School, New Delhi

Food wastage
While  countries like France have declared a ban on food wastage, other nations have failed to deal adequately with this problem. Every year, one-third of the total food produced is wasted. This, when millions suffer from malnutrition.
Ishani Pant, class XII, The Heritage School, Kolkata

Ill treatment of Sr Citizens
The very children whom parents have brought up with love and care, are forgetting their duty towards their elders! Why is the younger generation becoming so insensitive? Do parents raise their children with so much affection only to see this day?
Radhika Arora, class X, The Gurukul, Panchkula

cruelty towards animals Animals are the man''s best friends.they stand by us in our difficulties, help us and serves us faithfully. But what do we do? The recent video of a college boy throwing a dog from the roof terrace had set the blue cross violent. just imagining how the dog must have felt gives me shivers. we must do our best to stop these cruelty acts towards animals. people doing so must be punished severely. every being in this world has it own rights. we must respect that.

Education in India really concern a lot. The Indian system of education is totally changed when compared to olden days and also compared with other countries. Education becomes theory in India whereas it becomes a precious thing in other countries that is why they are developed.

Love for education should be the motto of all schools at this time. Most of us think that studies r boring. But we will have to understand the fact that it is a beautiful tool to know ourselves better and to earn money, which is very important for the future.

Why present generation is hyper active? In most of the schools children can be seen fighting or shouting when teacher is not in the class. What is the cause behind this restlessness in the children?

The next generation should forget the stereotypic way of thinking.Inequality among girls and boys must come to a conclusion.Be the change you want.

I would like to add child marriage to this discussion. In India child marriage is still alive. At the age of getting educated children are forced to get married and burden themselves with the great responsibility of marriage. But parents never think that no one in this relation is matured and their kids will not be able to carry this burden.....

V.Adhvika Pon Vidyashram - Valasaravakkam

There are so many problems that we face in our world. This article spreads awareness about these problems and maybe one day we will be free from these problems

Freedom to be oneself...only when one feels free being themselves will they lead a happy life. It is necessary that one is not made to feel uncomfortable expressing themselves. This also includes the feeling of security and safety.

I am greatly concerned with the present situation of the Indian farmers. I salute their hardwork but this hardwork is not recognised by everyone. Their present situation is really pathetic.

Mansi Borade PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

I think we should take this title serious because it is the question for someones courier they are getting soil, because of this and this situation is so risky and critical. Our government should take strictly and should license the hard rule. I think we should really give an hand for them................

Bhavana Jaison Atomic Energy Central School No 2

I would like to discuss about the children begging on the streets and stations. Can the government send these children to the orphanages and get them admission in schools?

Bhavana Jaison Atomic Energy Central School No 2

Why schools are taking children for picnics to theme parks ? Is there any Nexus between school authorities and theme park management.

Thing that always concerns me is the rising pollution. Air pollution and water pollution are rising day by day because of the cutting of more and more trees.
