Colombo, Aug 9: Left-arm spinner Axar Patel was on Wednesday named as a replacement for Ravindra Jadeja in the India squad for the third and final Test against Sri Lanka, starting at Pallekele on Saturday.

"The All-India Senior Selection Committee on Tuesday named Axar Patel as replacement for Ravindra Jadeja in the team for the third Test, which starts from August 12 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium," the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced.

Team for third Test: Virat Kohli (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (Vice Captain), Rohit Sharma, R. Ashwin, Axar Patel, W. Saha (wk), Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, M. Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, Abhinav Mukund.

It does not seem morally correct when one achieves such name and fame and all of a sudden does something that might spoil his/her hard-earned image. This was not expected from one of my favourite players, Jadeja. I do not feel Axar Patel is a replacement for the irreplaceable Jadeja. Certain qualities are found in certain people and replacing those qualities is nearly impossible.

I do not think that Axar Patel can do a great job that Ravindra Jadeja has done. I will surely miss him in the last Test. He is a brilliant all rounder, he can make a brilliant partnership with anyone and try to contribute some runs so that India can make a big score and he can even take wickets at the end moment. Hope that the team can perform without him!! Best Of Luck!!

It does not seems a good move. Axar Patel does not have the qualities to replace the No.1 Test All rounder and No.1 Test Bowler, Ravindra Jadeja as he is yet to make his debut in Test cricket.
