Shri Shikshayatan School celebrates Children’s Day

 Shri Shikshayatan School celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm and zeal. The day started with celebration in the junior section where the headmistress, Poushali Mukherjee, addressing the students and expressing her affection for them followed by the secretary general, Bratati Bhattacharyya who encouraged the children to take interest in science and technology and to always help others in need. Thereafter the junior school teachers entertained all with "Melodies from Bengal" a bouquet of group enactments and musical performances based on various famous Bengali novels like “Charulata” as well modern songs. 

Students of the senior section were in for some electrifying performances by the senior teachers. The principal, Sangeeta Tandon, addressed the children after which the secretary general performed Elvis Presley’s famous song "Falling in love". This was followed by Nabanita Nag playing the mouth organ and musical performances on the latest songs and a medley of some very popular songs by Pallavi Ghatak. The live band performance by Shome Shubhro Chatterjee and a special tune on the flute had the audience smiling, with the students enjoying this welcome break from their daily routine. A fusion dance performance on “Senorita by Prasun Chatterjee was next on offer and the students joined to the melodious tunes while making the ambiance all the more vibrant. There was a special fashion show where the teachers dressed as various conventional and unconventional professionals that reminded us of all the career options a woman of today is free to choose. 
The school also invited underprivileged children and shared their joy with them through books and gifts. 
The programme ended with the vote of thanks from a student who expressed her joy and gratitude towards the teachers on behalf of all the students.
