Story Time At School
Educator and poet Devyani Mungali mesmerises students with her storytelling

Storytelling Session By Devyani Mungali At CIS, Pimpri

Storytelling is a universal and traditional art form that features as an effective communication tool. With the aim to entertain, educate, ingrain values and open the minds of the students to the world beyond imagination, City International School, Pimpri, organised a session on storytelling for students of classes I and II on November 7.
The session began with the welcome and felicitation of the guest of honour, Devyani Mungali, a poet, an educator, a philospher and founder of Sanskriti Group of Schools in Pune. She recently launched her anthology of Hindi poems- 'Kavitaon Ka Jadui Pitara'. The programme was also attended by academic director Nirmal Bhataiya and principal Pallavi Joshi.
Making the morning blissful, the students of classes I and II welcomed the guest with a beautiful welcome song.
The guest of honour, Devyani Mungali conducted an interactive session and narrated the story of 'Mr Hathi ki Barat' in her melodious voice. Students were engrossed in listening to the story as she narrated the story with creative gestures and facial expressions. The animated story of 'Mendek ki Kahani' enhanced the imagination of the students and introduced them to the new horizons of storytelling.
The students even actively participated in reciting the poem 'Jab Machali Ko Hua Jukham' as they were introduced to the new world of imagination and new vocabulary. The seminar also promoted the feeling of relaxation and well-being as students were given worksheets to draw and colour one picture on 'What they would dream to become when they grow up'. This gave wings to the students’ imagination as the little ones tried putting their sentiments and feelings on the paper.
The academic director and principal expressed their gratitude and thanked Mungali for her valuable time and wonderful experience. The storytelling session turned to be an interesting experience of language learning mixed with fun-filled activity. It was a joyous day of learning and growing altogether.
