Arjuna Awardee Felicitates Sports Stars Of School

The much-awaited Sports Meet of Gurukul Global School, IT Park, Chandigarh, was organised amidst great mirth, verve and camaraderie. The event was held at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sector-3, Panchkula. The galaxy of guests present at the occasion included Tejinder Pal Singh Toor, gold medalist in shot put (Asian Games & Asian Championship) and Arjuna Awardee, along with guests of honour Harpreet Singh, national medalist in discus throw, Sukhveer Singh, national medalist in handball, school president Neena Setya, chairman Dr VD Singh, managing director, Parveen Setya and principal, Urvashi Kakkar.
The sports meet began with a welcome speech and the school report read by the principal. This was entailed by the unfurling of the school flag and the declaration of the meet open by the chief guest, marking the commencement of the ceremony, followed by the lighting of the flame. The chief guest took the salute of the impressive march past and then the house captains took the oath to play the games with true sportsman spirit, integrity and discipline. It was a delight to see the excitement with which children challenged themselves to attempt variety of races such as balloon race, 100 m, 200 m and 400 m races etc. A peppy ball and umbrella drill, mass PT and an energising aerobics drill set the tone for the rest of the event.
Later, the young achievers were awarded with medals by the chief guest, who appreciated each sports star and applauded the visionary element of the school which nurture and develop their potential in the field of sports. The meet culminated with the prize distribution ceremony where Hunar Mittal and Arnav Aggarwal were awarded the Best Sports Persons of the Year award.
