Home-Cooked Food For The Homeless

Sneha Mohandoss is the brain behind Food Bank, India. With the help of over 1,000 volunteers across India, she feeds the homeless with food prepared at home.

How did you come up with the idea of Food Bank?
My family has been my inspiration for such activities. My grandfather used to give fresh food to local homeless hungry people, then my mother took up the cause and now I am following their footsteps. I would  spend a lot of time on Facebook to stay updated on similar efforts, that's when I decided to put it to use for a good cause.

How does Food Bank work?
The idea is very simple, feeding the homeless and hungry with home-cooked food. People, who wish to volunteer for the cause, have to cook an extra meal at home and distribute to the needy in and around their areas with our local distribution team. We are working towards making our country a place where there is zero tolerance towards hunger.

How many chapters of Food Bank do you have?
We have more than 25 chapters in India. From Hyderabad, Nizamabad to Pune, Delhi, etc, we have a founder member for each chapter, who coordinates via WhatsApp group and phone calls.
