Contemporary Twist To This Tale

Movie: Kung Fu Panda 3

Starcast: Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan  and others

Synopsis: Po discovers that teaching Kung Fu is not as easy as he expected. He is demoralised as a teacher, which makes him question who he really is and whether he is the Dragon Warrior. Master Shifu advises Po that instead of trying to be a teacher, he should try to be himself...

Verdict: 9/10

This 95-minute movie appeals to all age groups. It is a contemporary and exciting depiction of the traditional victory of good over evil. It is the third installment of the Kung Fu Panda franchise and the plot is different from the first two movies.

Po, the lead character, is faced with an adversary named Kai who has returned from the afterlife by capturing 'chi' or spirit of great masters of Kung Fu. Master Oogway, in the afterlife, challenges Kai to take the Dragon Warrior's chi.

The series also sees the introduction of Po's biological father and a whole secret village of pandas, where Po discovers himself and in the process, his uniqueness. He and the other pandas learn how to give chi, which eventually helps him destroy Kai.

This movie also shows that every person has a choice of how he/she wants to be - whether to be the one to give chi and succeed, or take it by force from others and fail.
