How Acting Saved B’Day Boy Tom Hardy

Tom Hardy, who has climbed his way to the top of the film industry and earned a reputation as a Hollywood bad boy has suffered from drug problems and alcoholism prior to his success. Last year, he had said that "In death, I was reborn," adding that the only thing that saved him through that dark time was acting. The 'Mad Max: Fury Road' star noted that he originally got into it because he wanted to make his father, Edward ‘Chips’ Hardy — a novelist and comedy writer, proud. He was quoted, “Because I was an only child, this was very important to me and there wasn't very much of anything else that I could do. But acting was something I could do and because I found that I was good at it, I wanted to make the effort to invest time and effort into doing it." Hardy, who admits he enjoys playing bad guys on the big screen because they are so far removed from his own life, further said that he is lucky enough to do it for a living and he loves it and learns from it every day. Birth of son 'changed' Tom Hardy's life

Actor-producer Tom Hardy says the birth of his son made him realise that he had to think about his family too rather than focusing on himself. Hardy says the birth of his son Louis, now 7, whom he has with ex-girlfriend Rachael Speed, "changed his life", reports dailymail.co.uk. After the birth of my son is when the penny dropped that there was no longer very much time for me to think about myself anymore because there is somebody now on the planet who really needs me to get my act together and focus on something that is more important than me," said the 38-year-old, who also has a three-month-old child with wife Charlotte Riley. Tom Hardy begins shooting Christopher Nolan's 'Dunkirk'
Last month, Hardy was snapped on the California set of Christopher Nolan's WWII film ‘Dunkirk’ for the first time. After months of speculation about his role in the movie, he finally made his first appearance on the filming set of the movie, reported Ace Showbiz. Several images offer first glimpse of the British actor hopping into the pilot's seat of a replica British spitfire. The "Mad Max: Fury Road" actor is seen dressing in an ensemble reminiscent of a RAF fighter pilot and combining it with a dark jacket, goggles and a helmet. Earlier this month, Warner Bros teased fans with the first teaser trailer of the upcoming thriller despite the film being in the early stage of production. The 56-second video didn't feature any of the film's stars, but fans got to see the eerie landscape which was required to portray the desperate nature of the situation of the French coastline in 1940s. "Dunkirk" revolves around allied soldiers from Belgium, Britain and France who are surrounded by the German army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II. The upcoming film has tapped Fionn Whitehead as the main character and Harry Styles in a mystery role. Nolan directs the film from a script he wrote. He also serves as producer along with his wife Emma Thomas. Also starring Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh, the epic action thriller hits US theaters on July 21, 2017. PTI
