Anti-ageing Drug In 3 yrs

Mouse cells were 'rejuvenated' after a week of the new treatment

A DRUG that reverses the signs of ageing could be on the market by 2020, scientists have revealed.

In early experiments the drug, nicotinamide mononucleotide, had a dramatic rejuvenating effect on ageing mice.

Researchers working with two biotech firms now hope to begin clinical trials on patients in the next six months.

Lead scientist Prof David Sinclair, the University of South Wales in Australia, said: "The cells of the old mice were indistinguishable from the young mice after just one week of treatment.

"This is the closest we are to a safe and effective anti-ageing drug that's perhaps only three to five years away from being on the market if trials go well."

The drug boosts oxidised nicotinfrom mide adenine dinucleotide, which repairs the DNA .

Nasa hopes the drug could shield astronauts on the long voyage to Mars from the effects of radiation, which causes cancer. It could also combat the accelerated ageing seen in childhood cancer survivors.

Amazing.!

Not nice . Though it could be useful in some ways but think of the population. It is already increasing at a surprising rate. Think what would happen if the people don''t die and new babies continue taking birth . No it isn''t nice.

I agree with Dilsher Singh that population is increasing at an alarming rate and through this invention, the cycle of birth and death will be affected. So, in my view it will be acting detrimental to the human world.
