Disappointing Reads

Book: Where rainbows end
Author: Cecelia Ahern
This author is well known for her heart- warming teenage romance novels. Even with dangerously low expectations, I completed this book with a lot of regret. The novel is written as an epistolary of letters and e-mails between two childhood friends. What bored me was the time span of the novel – four decades! One starts losing interest in the middle. It is turns out to be quite tedious.

Book: Divergent series
Author: Veronica Roth
Many young readers are crazy about this series of books. Like some of my friends, I too started reading the book and ended up very disappointed. Though the concept of ‘the hunger games’ is interesting, the author could have added more flavour to it, keeping in mind the taste of young readers. Besides, the plot construction is very loose and the characters are not well defined in the series.

Book: Revolution 2020
Author: Chetan Bhagat
The whole book is about misery, nothing good happens at any point! One begins to ask why one is reading this book! The title creates great expectations which are nowhere fulfilled. It’s more about the personal lives of three friends, which seems full of misery and there is no hope whatsoever. In the end they all separate and go their way.

Book: Death on the Nile
Author: Agatha Christie
This book disappointed me. It neither had any surprising murder nor intriguing clues that would keep a reader glued to the events. Though I like Agatha Christie and have read most of her books, “Death on the Nile” was disappointing to read. Compared to her other books like ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ this was a huge letdown.
