5 Lessons That Dory Taught Us

There is a lot to learn from animation films, we tell you what Dory from Finding Dory taught us this season...

1. Not to let your weakness define you – Dory doesn’t let her short term memory loss demotivate her from finding her way home. She dismisses Marlin’s concern at the start and takes him and Nemo along on the wonderful journey.

2. Its good to seek help when you need it – Dory asks for help from most of the sea creatures she encounters so she can reunite with her parents. She in fact wouldn’t have been able find them quickly if it weren’t for her seeking assistance.

3. Friends are family - Dory relied on the friends she made along the way to fill up a gap she didn’t know existed. They helped her and gave her all the support she needed till she finally found her parents.

4. Trust your instincts – Instincts. The feeling you have about something that constantly tugs at your brain to help you make the right decision. Trust them. Dory did. They’re usually correct.

5. Move on – Dory wouldn’t have found her parents if she hadn’t just kept swimming. The little blue fish teaches us positivity and perseverance.

Student speak:

Dory in particular taught me to be determined. She decides to go out and find her parents. Dory was so determined to keep her memory of her parents the whole trip because this time her memory wasn't going to disappear like it usually does. She kept repeating her memories of her family and directions to where she lived until she would get there. After a lot of struggle, she finally finds her way back home reuniting with mom and dad. Kudos to her...
