Give Yourself 10 Minutes Today

Here Are 8 Things You Can Do For Self-Care, If You Spare 10 Minutes A Day

In the Japanese culture, there is a concept called "Kaizen," which means that small, but consistent changes can bring about big results.

One of the most common misconceptions about self-care is that it requires time. Many of us don't make the effort to improve our lives, because we mistakenly believe that unless we spend hours every day looking after our physical, emotional, or spiritual health, there's no point. Kaizen,  when applied to self-care and self-improvement, this would mean that we don't actually need an hour a day, but just ten minutes or so. Or, maybe not even that, as long as we bring small, positive changes in different areas of our lives. But, the question arises, in just a few minutes, what can you really do? A lot, to be honest. Take your pick...

A quick, full-body workout
You can do a few sets of Surya Namaskar, planks, burpees, jumping jacks... whatever you prefer, or are in the mood for. In ten minutes, you can warm up, as well as cool down. Sometimes, working out is also about using your time in the best way possible.

Meditate
If you're busy, and aim for an hour of meditation to beat the blues, you might be setting yourself up for failure. Start where you are. Chances are, you won't be able to stay in a meditative zone for even ten minutes, but at least you've got something to build on.

Dance to your favourite track
This is one of the best ways to give yourself some T.L.C. You've got your jam to lift your mood, while you move that body. You won't want to stop at just one song!

Write it out
Writing is therapeutic. It not only helps you vent, but also figure out exactly what you're feeling. And often, the solution to our emotional turmoil lies in understanding what we're experiencing.

Go for a walk
Leave your phone behind, and reconnect with yourself. Best done barefoot, on grass.

Go out for a cup of coffee
By yourself. Not with a friend. Maybe read, while you sip on that cuppa. Or, maybe just sit and enjoy that caffeine kick.

Get some fur therapy
No, not the one you wear. Spend time with animals... dogs, cats, cows, whatever you like. Animals are full of positivity, and have no evil intentions. If you don't have a pet, play with strays. They are always hungry for love, and will always be your loyal companions!

Do gardening
Water plants, prune them, or just sit by them, and take the sweet scent of wet mud and unadulterated leaves in. Nature always helps us heal.

Tell us your best therapy to unwind over the weekend.

I do Surya Namaskar everyday and believe me it doesn''t take more than 7-8 mins to do 12 sets of it and it really refreshes me. It''s a very useful method to maintain yourself. And it includes all the benefits of yoga. Once just take a 21 day Surya Namaskar challenge and you''ll feel the change. And don''t forget to compel your parents, siblings and friends to do the same. Just try once! It really works!
