Pythagoras' Theorem Was Explained Before Pythagoras Was Even Born

Baudhayana was the author of the Baudhayana sutras, which cover dharma, daily ritual, etc. He was the author of the earliest Sulba Sutras.  These are notable from the point of view of mathematics, they contain several important mathematical results. He explained the concept of what is known as the Pythagorean Theorem today. He discovered this in the 6th century, which was long before the European mathematician, Pythagoras was born. This theorem explains the relation among the three sides of a right triangle. It states that the square of the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.
