Silence or Violence, Which Is More Effective?

Silence is the most powerful scream. Many a times a person will find himself in a situation where keeping quiet is better than responding to things that is not of utmost importance. Sometimes it’s safer to let your silence speak.  When it comes to handling conflicts we all experience a tendency to either turn to violence or silence to resolve it, but the fact that silence is often the best cure for most of the troubles.  Violence will never justify you rather it will behave as a force intended to hurt or damage a person.

But sometimes the significance of the silence is ignored! Maybe neither complete silence nor violence is effective! We need to find the middle ground between the two, to make sure our side of the matter is heard.

It is very truly said that ''Silence is golden.'' But at times silence can''t work. Even Gandhiji had to practise violence against the britishers. It all depends on the situation and how you handle it.

Silence is the best answer. But for today''s scenario, it doesn''t stand out to be the best. If you remain silent, then often you''ll get deprive of golden opportunities. Also, the go-getters will elbow their way pushing you towards the back or will exploit you without any sense of remorse. Violence, though results in devastation, but still is a better way to deal with issues such as safety, harassments etc.

Often we find that a killer stare from your mom is much scarier than a slap from her hands...but if it is about India vs Pakistan it would never be right. They keep slapping you straight on rhe face till you respond .But if there is a nuclear war .... More than half of our kind will be wiped off ..

silence is the best way to represent our emotions but if all limits are crossed then violence is apt.

It is said that silence is golden but violence is the last resort. But with the current state of affairs with foreign terrorism silence is not an option! But sometimes neither silence nor violence will work out and we need to find a better compromise otherwise we would be out of the frying pan into the fire.

Pragyamita Basu B.D.M. International

Earlier it was thought that silence was superior than violence but now if talk about issues like the Indo-Pak war then violence is the one and only option to deal with the current scenario.

Silence is the best for small family issues. Violence is the best for world affairs. To fight against terrorism, we can''t be silent. Even when we are in a confusion, it''s better to be silent. We would take better decisions after a silence.
