Ritwik Baweja: Are We Celebrating The Real Heroes?

India is a nation where corruption, poverty and illiteracy coexist. The public usually idealizes those people as their heroes who are either decked up in jewellery with designer bags and shoes, executives with high salaries or politicians who are great orators. In such a social setup, real heroes like a selfless teacher, an Armyman or a doctor are often forgotten. Real heroes are those who are fearless, dutiful and visionary. India needs heroes who can help carve the  'Bharat' of our dreams. Our political leaders are portrayed as icons and heroes whose birthdays we celebrate with great pomp and show. But we never question them whether they took the best decisions for us. Anyone who tries to change India for the better is seen with cynical eyes. We know we all are  tarnished so we doubt others. The real hero always remains invisible. Heroes exist as we all have them in us. But we get dependent on the grace of the powerful and breakers of laws. India needs to emerge as a nation of talent with opportunities for the youth. This can’t be done with a magic wand. We need to become heroes in our own field and carve out a nation from carbon to diamond.

I agree with you. In India there isn''t one good leader. And to get good leader we have to become best in our field. Whether we are, not mater. But we should always be top in any field. By doing good work, not by doing bad work.

In India, we just pay our respects towards the rich ones, who usually aren''t the people who do something for us. The real hero isn''t always acknowledged.

First of all we fail to identify real heroes and run behind fake ones.only some are correctly identified.

I think in today''s world people used to give respect to those who are rich nor to common people. They are just obeying oder''s of those who can buy anything not to those who does whole day work and get 1000 or 2000 salary..

No, the real heroes of our country are not properly recognised by both people and government. People are readily available for to take pride of these heroes who are working for the welfare of the country. We, the young generation should take initiative to identify these true sons of our country and spread their efforts to the society.

No one is born as a hero.Heroism is shown to the world by the good deeds performed by us as a citizen to the society. And so such true heroes are teahers, army man doctors and most importantly our farmers....Hats off to these people.
