Parswati Sen: How To Think Out Of The Box

Today’s students are so bookish. They are always seen with their nose buried in their textbooks. So how can we expect them to even think out of the box? Most students and even we forget that the world is very large and interesting. If we start acquiring knowledge, it increases our hunger to know more and more. Studying textbooks is not enough. Students need to know extra and interesting things to face this competitive society of the 21st century. Everybody has  to be advanced in his/her thoughts in order to progress. School textbooks alone can’t do this. Amid all the texts, students also need to upgrade their general knowledge. This doesn’t mean that students should stop reading textbooks. In fact, they should extend their reading to novel, stories, poems and newspapers to improve themselves. This will help them to think out of the box.

Yes, Students should think out of the box. Knowledge is endless. The more you seek the more you learn. Interest can be cultivated in students by showing them the practical uses or applications of knowledge and how easy life will become if one applies his knowledge in his daily activities. We can prove them that knowledge is a gift.

Exactly students should try to think out of the box, although they don''t accomplish in doing so I think they should keep on trying. Thinking out of the box makes you extraordinary and gives you a lot of confidence to do something creative and then your imagination works wonders. but yes it is not an easy task, you should try to go beyond of what is being taught in the class.

I always advice my friends to do so. You are right Parswati. It is very important to think out of box. As we are forced to sit in a circle called marks and grades we fail to notice and learn beautiful things of this world. I feel than textbooks one can acquired more knowledge from other general books and activities. Nice article!

I like thinking out of the box. For example: making my own litmus paper

Yes you are right. Today''s generation just thinks that they are very intelligent as they know about what is in their books and in their exams. But true knowledge is hidden in nature itself. That is to be understood.

Rightly said, Parswati! I totally agree with you

Shweta Ullala National Academy For Learning

The reason that students do this is because teachers prepare an answer key which is very limited and expect students to write these exact points! Students have no scope to think outside the box!

Moksha Shrivastava BAL BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (NOIDA)

Very True but they need some practicals too.

Very true, textbooks alone are''nt enough to build a perfect man. When we have a whole lot of exciting things to read why should we limit ourselves to textbooks only. Instead of thinking out of the box, why don''t we come out of the box?

Students should be shown the same things in real by doing some curricular activities which also makes them active and wakes up their interest in that particular topic or subject.
