Panchami.M: Why Ads Don't Talk About Side Effects?

Advertisements should feature the side effects of products as users have all right to know the disadvantages of the product which they will be using. For example, aerated drinks are considered bad and many nutritionists are against them, but still the advertisement does not educate people about the bad side of consuming such drinks. Advertisements are meant to educate people on a wider scale, but is this education where a person does not know how the product can harm him or her?

Ads talk about the benefits of the product as they have to sell their product and get a good response from the public. If they talk about the side effects, then no customer is going to buy that product as side effects happen with every product.

That''s true but that is the question why shouldn''t we be educated about both the sides of the coin ? We should be let to decide because our life is more precious than money

Why will companies want to be the cause of their own losses? They just want their company to be under profit. Isn''t it?

GARV MITTAL ST. COLUMBAS

If ads start talking about disadvantages no one will be interested and it will just be a waste of time and money. It can lead to lack of revenue and reality shoes or other serials won''t work

ABHIGYAN SINGH Harmony International School , Kharghar

Ads do not show the disadvantage of product as people mostly see the bad side of things first then the good side, so nobody will buy the product and the company will be in loss.

Advertisements aren''t meant to educate people, they''re meant to sell products. If you want the side effects to be mentioned, the government would have to take measures like they''ve done with cigarettes like implementing plain packaging with images of sufferers of lung and throat cancer. However, this would be unreasonable in my opinion for most items - they''re not carcinogens after all.

They are just marketing. Their aim is to sell the product and get benefited. They don''t want us any profit. I want this question to be asked to the advertisers. Atleast they will think about it. Well done Panchami.

But if adds talk an the side effects of a product there''ll be a great change in marketing system. Companies will be more cautious in making the products without side effects.

Sandhya Srinivas TRIVENI PUBLIC SCHOOL

they do not show the side effects as if the side effects are told ,there will be no customers buying them.It will be their loss then . But we should know about the bad effects .
