Bhuvan Goel: Do We Still Require Reservations?

When the constitution of India was being drafted almost 70 years ago, the provision of reservation for the socially and educationally backward class of the Indian society was incorporated so that so that they can come at par with the privileged lot.

However, the question is, do we still need reservations? What about those people who benefitted from these reservations and now their children are also taking advantage of it? Where has the concept of creamy layer gone? When the reserved quota has been given to SCs, STs and OBCs at the college level, why do you have to give the same people the benefit of reservation while giving them jobs. The people who are actually backward till now, do they receive the benefits of the provision?

Due to the fear of losing the vote bank, the politicians do not put an end to reservation. It is now in the hands of the young generation to take a step forward and raise their voices for putting some restrictions to this provision and stop the Indian system from being rotten.

Its one of the harsh truth that prevails in our country..reservation need to come to an end so that the deserving candidates with high educational potential as well as skill are given opportunity to contribute toward the prosperity and development of the nation.

Indeed.People really don''t require reservations today.Any job must be held by capability and not priority.By keeping this system our government is practicing untouchability in a different form.Hope we are able to something

I completely agree that reservation is not the best way to handle the unemployment crisis or imparting equal education in India. This will lead to more chaos because it will affect the career of the student if they have reservations category they will not prepare themselves fully for their career or studies in future. Giving reservation will give rise to manipulation also as the firm will be biased to certain communities.

Jangvir Takshak DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL

Very true Bhuvan. Reservation and Corruption are the two things that have destroyed the country. It is very shameful for any citizen of this country to ask for reservation after 69 years of independence.

SAKSHI MITTAL D.P.S DWARKA

Yes there is an urgent need to struck down this system of reservations. Also some people take advantage of this system by making fake certificates because they think this country runs on only priority and not merit..and they are somewhat right. We should give reservations only on the basis of economically backwardness.
