Nehar Agnihotri: Technology Verses Human Relationships

To go forward, and to tell a narrative of real and lasting progress, we must go back. Before the advancement in various fields and technologies, the scene was totally different. Technology has a great impact on human values and ethics. It has created so many ethical dilemmas for us. Technological innovations have a deep influence on human relationships. Mikel Paul has rightly pointed out, “Without the knowledge and understanding of the very basic human values, nobody can give a direction to one’s life that makes sense.”

Religious and spiritual life is an aspect that is affected the most. Religious festivals are now celebrated by sending flowers and sweets virtually to our relatives and  friends rather than physically going over to their place and greeting them. It has been rightly said, “A family that eats together, stays together.” With the introduction of technology,  there is no family gathering for meals at the table as everyone eats in their rooms, is glued to their smart phones and virtually connected to their families.
Technology not only affects human relationships, but it also has an impact on the environment and even our soul. People busy in the virtual world, do not have sufficient time to spend with the environment. That’s why we don’t get the inner peace and happiness that we crave for. We get spirituality from the Almighty – from whom we draw faith, strength and contentment. All religions teach us that doing service to people is the same as doing service for God. But we neither have time for ourselves, nor for the people around, because people are busy, with the newly launched entertainment gadgets. So I would like to stress that we must spend time with your family which does so much for you, has so much concern for you and is always there for you. Manage your life and give proper time to everything in your life. If you neglect those who are near and dear to you, you will end up regretting and repenting what you have done. Thank God for what you have and try to be a better person each day.

Well expressed! I know we are getting too much involved in useless stuff. But watching only the negative side is not good. It''s just that how we make use of resources. It''s a fact that we are connecting around the world. But it''s difficult for us to connect with our own parents. But on the other hand, just think how it would be without GPS, quick answers, Google Maps, online shopping, cab booking and what not. While discussing this we always end up saying '' It''s about how we use it ''.

Yes you''re right.technology has totally destroyed humanity.Technology has not only destroyed humanity,it also destroyed humans. We should spend some of our time with the family members. We should use less of technology

Truly said! Growing technology may influence us and make our lives easy outside but it looks us from inside. If we just use it for our wellness and fitness take it too hard well not be affected. But people take technologies so seriously and check our phones often for no reason. Nice article Nehar!

As it is said technology has both a good and bad side just as the two sides of the coin and it depends on ow we use it
