Disha Hegde: The Day I realised 'We Are Equal'

The other day I was travelling on a  very crowded train. It stopped at a station and a Muslim woman boarded the train with her one-year-old son. When the train stopped at the next station the woman lost her balance. A saree-clad woman sitting nearby asked the woman to hand over the baby to her. She took the baby in her arms, embraced him and played with him during the long journey. I was observing all this from a distance. At the last stop all the passengers got down from the train when I saw that the two woman were exchanging polite words and hugging each other. That day I realised it’s our mindset and not religion that matters. We have both good and evil inside us. What matters is how we choose to act, and that makes us who we are. We cannot blame any religion for our actions. It is our mindset that makes devils out of us.

Nicely expressed Disha! By sharing this incident, you made us realise too. Religion, is just blamed unnecessarily. It''s us who make the distances, then blame others about it, and then try to figure out solutions, sad.

Truly said ''We Are Equal'' long since people started arguing for the division of people according to religion. I don''t really understand why, how and on what basis do people claim they are superior or inferior to the other sects and even if there exists any complexion why are we driven towards those few differences rather on a whole lot of similarities. It''s high time we start thinking rationally.

So sweet of you for sharing this incident 😊!!! Really so true! Actually, I''m happy that there are people who never mind about religion, caste, colour or anything that doesn''t matter. Like a black dot on a white paper, some people''s activities makes us think that we are not still equal. But this article will bring smile on many people''s face!
