Bhavesha Asrani: Dark Spots Of Life

One day a professor asked his students to prepare for a surprise test. He handed out the question paper with the text facing downwards. He asked his students to turn the page over and begin. To everyone's surprise the page was blank with just a black dot at the centre. The professor said, “I want you all to write on what you see there." Even though the students were confused and started on the inexplicable task. When the professor went through the papers he saw that all the students had described the 'black dot', trying to explain its position in the middle of the sheet. The professor then explained the logic behind the exercise. He said, "I just wanted to give you something to think about... no one wrote about the white part of the paper. Everyone focused on the black dot. The same happens in our lives too. We always focus on the dark spots. Our lives are a gift from God. But we always focus on the dark spots – health issues that bother us, lack of money, the complicated relationship with a family member, the disappointment with a friend...the list is endless."

The dark spots of our lives are small compared to all the other things we have. So take your eyes away from the 'black dots' in your 'life' and enjoy the blessings. When you are in trouble, just say, "Oh, you foolish problem. When I was born, the devil said, ‘Tough competition'. So you’d better stay away from me."
