Aadya Says Friendship Is A Ship That Never Sinks

Friendship is something which can cross boundaries , walls, limits and everything. A friend is a person who is ready to risk their life for the safety of their friends. F- field of love R- root of joy I- island of respect E- end of sorrow N- name of hope D- door of understanding.  We fight, cry, be happy, share all our feelings and secrets, understand each other and respect each others thoughts. Whether we have a small group of close friends or an expanded group of personalities, each of our friendships brings something new to our lives, inspiring us to see the world a totally different way, giving us a new shoulder to lean upon, and a new cheerleader to root us on.

We work our entire lives building friendships. From preschool, where we all learn that it takes a friend to make a friend. So to understand the meaning of friendship better, I will share a fictional sad friendship story..

I saw Namitha( my friend) walking down the flight of stairs, so I went near her and told her Hi! and gave her a friendship ring. She looked at me, exchanged my greeting and walked away, I felt very bad and thought that she had forgotten me. I didn't see her in the school for next few days. Then one day I received a call from an unknown number at my home, I picked it up and found out the call was from Namithas mom, she greeted me and asked me to come over to their house. After about an hour I reached their house,  I was pleasantly surprised to see many people gathered around her house. Then suddenly out of the crowd appeared Namithas mother, her face was tear stricken.

She guided me inside towards Namithas bedroom. On the bed lay a very quaint figure, I slowly approached the bed and had a closer look, it was Namitha herself. With trembling handS I checked her breath and then to my utter shock discovered that she had passed away. I darted back and fell down. I started crying loudly and whimpering upon the loss of my dearest friend. Namithas mother came ahead slowly pulled me up and took me to an other room, she seated me on the bed and went away. She then slowly came back with a envelope and sheet of paper and handed them to me. I opened it and read.

It was from Namitha herself. Each sentence i read gave me a bigger shock. Her letter said- "Dear Aadya, I love you, i am very sorry that i walked away from you the day. I had done that because I did not want you to know something which would give you a shock. I had bought a nice piece of dress for you the other day. But couldn't pass it on. I had woken up the next day to find all of my hair gone, I didn't have the courage to face you like that. So I wrote this letter for you and gave it along with the dress to my mother to give it to you. I hope I can see you before its too late. That's my last wish and I felt that you need to know this that I am a cancer patient. Bye"

With shock in my eyes I opened the dress and saw something wonderful on it. Namitha had embroidered our photo onto the frock. I felt touched about it and sad for thinking that she had forgotten me. I realised the value of true friendship.

Yes I totally agree with you, Aadya. Friendship is surely a ship that never sinks. Everyone will rejoice in your happiness nut only a friend will be by your side during your difficult times. Friends make you laugh when you are sad. Friends will do anything for you. Friends will never leave you alone. They will never laugh at your mistakes but they will tell what is the right thing or the wrong thing. Being with a friend makes you feel very happy.

I do agree with you Aadya. Friendship is the only ship which never sinks but there must be a good bonding between the friends so that they maintain the balance of the ship and will not let it sink.

I completely agree with you. You must have heard the quote "A true friend walks in when the world walks out." True friendship lasts for the entire life . Even if you don''t see them much , they always remain in your hearts.

RIYA MITTAL Convent of Jesus and Mary

Very true. Friendship is a ship that never sinks. True friends can risk their lives to save you. They won''t hesitate to do something difficult for your sake. Everyone can congratulate you on your success but only true friends will be with you even during difficult times

A friend is someone with whom we can share all our sorrows and joys but the Friendship of ours should be strong enough to face all the difficulties and if it faces it well then only our Friendship wont sink.!

Yes,but we need to learn to find the right person before entitling him or her as a friend. Also I believe that just one good friend is thousand times better than having lots and lots of enemies disguised as friends. And if you find the right person, your life will very soon turn into a heaven, worth living.

I did not agree totally because it is not always necessary that everyone get friends that could called as best friends and that''s why the ship made from such friendships can sink easily."Friendship is a ship that never sinks'''' can only be true when the disputes, disagreements and misunderstandings didn''t dominate friendships and may be this is only possible in ideal worlds.

Yes, I totally agree with Aadya. Aadya''s anecdote made me feel that friendship is one of the most precious gifts of life. A person who has true friends in life is lucky enough Friendship makes life thrilling. It makes life sweet and pleasant experience. Friendship is indeed, an asset in life. It can lead us to success or to doom.

I think the line should be FRIENDSHIP IS A SHIP THAT NEVER TRULY SINKS. I added that TRULY because, friendships may sometimes break but they can be made up again. I mean the ship of friendship can sink but can rise again. But these three lines apply to true friends only.
