Beat Adrenal Fatigue

Are you constantly feeling exhausted or burned out? You could be suffering from adrenal fatigue. Fatigue, body aches, skin discolouration, low blood pressure and unexplained weight loss are some of the common symptoms of the condition. Some believe adrenal fatigue is a form of adrenal insufficiency that is caused by chronic stress. Others say it may be that your adrenal glands are unable to keep up with a hectic pace. Here are some ways to combat the issue if you are experiencing some of its symptoms.

Sleep more

Go to bed early and stick to a routine. Sleeping before midnight can help your body go into a more restorative state. Try and avoid alarm clocks if you can and allow your body to wake up naturally. You will feel less rushed and start to enjoy waking up in the morning once you get used to it.

Do gentle workouts

Sometimes strenuous workouts can take a toll on the body. Trying to bounce back from an exercise routine can be challenging if our body is run down. Instead of helping you feel fit and refreshed, physical activity can make you feel even more exhausted. The key is to not overdo it. Try less strenuous and gentle workouts. Practise yoga as it can strengthen the body and still put you in a relaxed state.

Fill up on greens and avoid sugar

Good food can help rebuild your energy and strength. Eat more green leafy vegetables and root vegetables like sweet potato. You should also try to stay clear of sugar or avoid it altogether. Sugar can spike your blood sugar levels, which can cause more stress on the body. Satisfy your craving for sweet stuff with naturally sweet foods that have benefits.

Say no to caffeine

This may be a difficult one, but coffee has got to go if you want to get your body back on track. Too much caffeine increases stress hormone levels, which is produced by your adrenal glands. If you start to feel shaky and jittery from coffee, that means you have to cut back or take a break from it if you can't quit it completely.
