School Holds Signature Event- APS Fest 2016

The third signature event - APS Fest 2016 was organised at a grand level in Army Public School, Chandimandir. The congregation of the budding talents and amateur artists got a unique platform to exhibit their potential and propensities under one roof who participated in various competitions held during the event.
A total of 13 schools from the Tricity took part in the event with profundity. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest Maj Gen Arvind  Katoch, MG ASC, HQ Western Command  and the guest of honour Jyoti Katoch , followed by a soulful rendition of "Gayatri Mantra". Thereafter the students of Music Club added fervour to the occasion by presenting a patriotic song and  highlighting the loyalty and martyrdom of our soldiers, followed  by a scintillating  dance performance by dance club students.
The first event was fancy dress competition followed by English poem recitation which was held for classes IV-V. The first prize  in fancy dress was won by Ananya Thakur of Army Public School ,Chandimandir, second prize was bagged by Daksh Sharma of St Soldier International School, Sector 28 Chandigarh. The poems of two renowned poets, Roald Dahl and Lewis Carroll were skillfully delivered before the august gathering. The winner of the English poem recitation was Abhimanyu Pargal of St Kabir Public School, Chandigarh followed by Tiya Aneja  of The Gurukul, Sector 20 Panchkula who secured second position. For the students of classes VI-VIII, cartoon illustrations and Hindi poem recitation competitions were held. Children had to make  caricatures based upon Roald Dahl's work or contemporary scenario. The first position for cartoon illustration was secured by Abhinav Singh of Army Public School, Chandimandir followed by Jashanpreet Singh  of Army Public School, Chandimandir who bagged second position. The invigorating poems recited by the students on themes of nature, motherland, teachers and friendship enthralled the audience. The  winner of the Hindi poem recitation was Priyanka Kumari of KV NO.2, Chandimandir Cantt followed by Aadi Jain of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh who got second position.
 The second day’s event started with Coalesce Quiz Competition which was for classes IX-XII and the teams from 10 schools of Tricity participated in the preliminary round, out of which only six teams qualify to compete further. The first position was won by Ranjul Malik  and Ranveer Yadav of Army Public School, Chandimandir. It was followed by English declamation competition, where students presented their views on the various topics.
Ragini Shekhawat of Army Public School, Chandimandir won the first position, followed by Hardika Narang of St Xavier's High School, Panchkula  who bagged the second position. Students of APS, Chandimandir also presented an informative skit on the topic "Incredible India" that unveiled many nefarious facets of the society. Towards the end, AWES song performed along with charismatic moves mesmerised the audience. Last but not the least, was the sensational dance performance on "Ae mere watan ke logon". The day culminated with the much awaited felicitation ceremony. The overall running trophy of the event was bagged by St Kabir Public School, Chandigarh.  Chief guest Maj Gen Arvind Katoch in his address to students emphasised on need to improve life skills, attitude and values to have holistic development in life.
