Kalyani’s K-Talk Captures Young Opinions
Winners of the competition are felicitated

The Kalyani School hosted its first inter-school K Talk competition in the multipurpose hall and the centre for performing arts, on November 18. K talk is an attempt to encourage public speaking and to hear the adolescents' candid opinions on issues that concern society. With this in mind, The Kalyani School opened its doors to 66 students, from 18 schools, to come forward and engage in an oratory competition, where students spoke on what they felt was the need of the hour.
They were allowed to choose any topic and speak for three minutes. The topics they chose spanned a variety of subjects and genres. From body shaming, rights for the LGBTQ+ community and artificial intelligence to music, attitude and happiness and never giving up. While some spoke on the Ayodhya dispute, others spoke about women's empowerment and the vanishing aroma of home-cooked food in the urban household.
The inter-school competition was carried out in two levels. Level 1 comprised classes VIII and IX with 32 participants and was judged by Anita Bhattacharjee and Parvathy Mira Nair. Level 2 comprised classes X and XI, with 34 participants and was judged by Bhajpreet Kaur and Batul Lamba.
In the level 1 category, Aniruddh Nambudiri from The Kalyani School stood first, Krishnapriya S. from Army Public School secured the second position; and the third place was sought by Tirtham Bhafna from The Bishop's School, Camp.
In the level 2 category, Krutarth Kotnis from Trinity International School stood first,  Ojal Mijar from Army Public School came second position and Dhwani Garg from Elpro International Schoool stood third.
It was a tough competition between the contestants which kept the audience captivated. The speakers were confident, eloquent and passionate about what they wanted to say. It was an intellectual treat to listen to the young minds speaking confidently on issues which are otherwise ignored.
