Dalai Lama At Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar

 The 14th Dalai Lama visited Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar. He showered his blessings on more than 5000 members of the school fraternity including the students from all the branches running under the aegis of the Salwan Education Trust, the trustees, the distinguished members of the managing committees along with the directors, the principals, the staff and parents of the students.

School principal Dr Indu Khetarpal accorded a traditional Tibetan welcome to the Dalai Lama. School chairman Dr Prasad V Medury felicitated the Dalai Lama by presenting a prayer wheel and a Shankha. School Trustee Harpal Singh welcomed the gathering. He highlighted the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the Salwan Education Trust and also encouraged the students to receive the blessings and imbibe the teachings of Dalai Lama. An Inter-Faith Prayer rendition was presented by the school choir. 

The Dalai Lama in his discourse laid stress on the fact that young students have the potential to transform the world and need to think and work with a clear vision for creating a better world.

He said that in the there was a need to revive the ancient Indian knowledge for promoting moral values, virtues and ethics. In order to create a peaceful world, it was essential to promote inner peace through positive forces such as humanity, unity, love, compassion, forgiveness, brotherhood, tolerance, contentment, self-discipline and selflessness.

The Dalai Lama shared his anecdotes and experiences with the students. He also addressed the queries of the students during the interactive session and shared insights on anger management and stress management, emphasising on contentment as the key to happiness in life. He encouraged the students to protect the environment. He urged them to spread happiness all around and use the power of smile. 

School chairman, Sushil Dutt Salwan, in his address, expressed his gratitude towards the Dalai Lama. He assured him that each and every Salwanian would remain committed to the teachings and would make a significant contribution towards creating a happier world. 

The Dalai Lama planted a sapling near the school reception as a reminder to the future generations to uphold the values of generosity and compassion.
