Shahid Says Padmavati A Challenge

Shahid Kapoor is on cloud 9. The year 2017 has definitely started on a good note for the star as he bagged a Filmfare award for Critics Choice Best Actor for his highly-appreciated film Udta Punjab.

While last year was quite successful for Shahid, 2017 looks even more promising. Why, you ask? Well, he is all set to stun his fans with a powerful performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavati. He will be seen playing a title role in the period drama opposite the leggy lass Deepika Padukone.

He’s also accompanied by Ranveer Singh, who’ll be seen playing a baddie. Now, Padmavati was in the news for a lot of reasons. From casting, tiffs with the historians to rivalry between the lead actors, it found itself in all sorts of puddles. However, all that is in the past now and the team is working really hard on the film.

The audience is quite hooked onto the project. So much so, that SLB and his team are very tight-lipped about their project. While Deepika and Ranveer have been constantly dodging all the questions about Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor is the only one who gave a glimpse into the film.

According to a report carried out by DNA, Shahid revealed that speculations about the film being women-centric is not true at all, he said, “Personally, I don’t think it’s a female-oriented film. The female part is extremely strong, just like in Rangoon, so are the male characters". Another interesting detail that the Udta Punjab actor revealed is that he will go shirtless in the film! He further said,

"I have no-food days now because I need to be in a certain shape for Padmavati. My character has a lot of close ups, body shots.”

Dismissing all the rumours about the feud between the male actors and the insecurity about their respective  roles, Shahid said, "I have a great part in Padmavati. I'm never insecure, I'm self-assured. It's great to work with talented people and my co-stars are actors who're great at balancing their work”.

Well, let’s hope the 2017 turns out to be more spectacular that the year that has gone by for the talented actor.
