The Pros Of Playing Music

Playing a musical instrument can help you to keep you fit and healthy plus more!

Here are more reasons why you should resolve to learn a music instrument this year...

Increases the capacity of your memory
Research has shown that both listening to music and playing a musical instrument stimulates your brain and can increase the capacity of your memory.

Enhances your hand-eye coordination
By reading musical notes on a page, your brain must subconsciously convert that note into specific movements while also adding rhythm to the mix.

Makes you better at maths
Studies have shown that students who play instruments or study the arts are often better at maths than students who don't.

Brazilian samba singer and composer Paulinho da Viola plays the 'cavaquinho' (a string instrument from the guitar family)

Sharpens your concentration
Playing music requires you to concentrate on pitch, rhythm and tempo. And playing in a group involves even more concentration because you must learn to hear all the other sections and play in harmony.

Teaches you discipline
Practising requires discipline. The best musicians in the world are masters of discipline which is why they're so successful on their instrument.

Tell us how music has made a difference in your life!
