Meet The Volunteen: Vivaana Chowdhry

“Good morning Teacher” said 30 voices full of respect and happiness. Happiness such that nothing could overcome. Happiness that brought life.  These were the voices of the underprivileged children at Aseema. These children came from families who tore up their uniforms and turned them black and blue but somehow they managed to only expand the smile on their face. Out of all these marvelous children there stood one that attracted me more than any other, Ayush. Ayush suffered from ADHD and therefore could not concentrate in class. Although what really grabbed his attention were the charts I made in the corner of the room. Ayush slowly turned into my shadow. He followed me everywhere I went. I tried helping the child learn while making the charts. Him being my right hand made him a huge part of the process. I developed a soft spot in my heart for this child, larger than anyone else’s. I am more than thankful to the NGO that offered me this golden opportunity, Aseema. I can’t wait to grow up and help children from such unfortunate backgrounds just like Ms. Dilbur Parakh has.
