This 4-YO Has Read 1,000 Books!

Four year old Daliyah Arana with Carla Hayden, the first female and first African-American Librarian at the Library of Congress.

For any bibliophile, there can never be 'enough books'. "So many books, so little time!" is their favourite mantra. Then again, there's this one girl who's giving every reader on this planet a run for their words.

Why? Because she has, in every sense of the word, devoured over 1,000 books! And, how old is she? 4!

Meet Daliyah Arana
A Georgia resident, who read her first book, Ann's Big Muffin, at the age of two years and 11 months. Soon thereafter, Arana was set up for a challenge by her mother, Haleema - one that required her to compete in the '1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Programme', which she managed to do with flying colours.

She even played the librarian of Library of Congress (well...for a day)
So much so that Arana became the first girl ever to walk into the US's largest library - the Library of Congress - and play its librarian for an entire day! Arana also joined Carla Hayden, the first female and the first African-American to hold the position as the Librarian of Congress.
It was fun to have 4-year-old Daliyah Marie Arana of Gainesville, GA as "Librarian For The Day." She's already read more than a 1,000 books. Together they both sat on the high chair, roamed the swanky halls, and interacted with the staff. Arana even suggested the library got whiteboards installed so that the children could practice their writing. The staff told her that they were already working on it.

But how did Arana land in the Library of Congress?
Once again, courtesy her mother who had written to the Library to tell them about their daughter's genius habit of reading books. The Library had responded to Haleema's letter and invited the family to visit.
Interestingly, the Library will now make 'Librarians For The Day' a regular feature that will see other young readers walk down the hallowed halls.

How many books have you read to till now? Tell us now in the comment section.

That is just so cool. i mean, i am 10 years old and have read around 200 books, but i know reading books doesn''t sync in with the huge timetables. It might take me 10 more years to reach little Daliyah''s level. she inspires all kids to read, which is really necessary these days when books are at the brink of extinction
