Will Creating A Happiness Department Work?

Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country to set up a "happiness department'' which will measure prosperity by gauging citizens' happiness quotient and not GDP. Your take?

This move will help to foster a happier lifestyle among citizens. Also, it will ensure that people do not resort to an extreme step like suicide in case of distress. If the govt succeeds in this endeavour, the state will become a role model for the whole nation.

People born and bred in negativity are unhappy, even though they may be financially sound. At times even wealth, fame and success do not guarantee happiness – and it drives people to take extreme steps. It’s good to know that the govt is concerned about its citizens.

I read an article sometime back about the UAE govt which had taken similar steps. As a result people voiced their opinion which ultimately led to a vast development in the economic and social condition of the country. We should try this ideology.

Such innovative moves are needed in these times when people are unhappy with many things, apart from food, clothing and shelter. Their happiness is directly influenced by their surroundings. At least now the dept will take measures to keep people happy by interacting with them regularly.

A great innovative idea from the state. Now, in reality people will be able to speak truthfully about their views and be listened to in Madhya Pradesh. It will help a lot to make MP rise and be even more developed and advanced
