Treat Bullies With Love, Says Actor Benedict Cumberbatch. What Are Your Views?

Well, that is too much of an idealistic viewpoint. Compassion can work wonders, but as far as  bullies are concerned, it can be made into a basis for deterrent action. Action has to be strong and punitive in nature, especially, if you want to see the bully really transform. Only love may not work. Reformers need to make both love and care the foundation of their action.

Samruddhi Lonikar, class X, DAV, Thane

I don't think treating bullies with love or kindness is the answer. People who bully need to be counselled because they have anger or insecurity issues that take the form of bullying. Those issues need to be addressed for any real change.

Sukhjeet Kaur, class X, Pallavi Model School-A, Hyderabad

Bullies are people who target vulnerable people to vent their frustration. Through campaigns that target bullies, we further antagonise them. I believe bullies must be heard, reached out to and given support. Be against bullying but counsel the bullies!

Benedict Cumberbatch gave us a new perspective towards the widespread problem of bullying. People who bully others are insecure and deep down have fear and anxiety, to treat them with love can help solve this problem to a great extend.

Not all bullies are worthy of compassion. Also, not alll bullies are worthy of punishment. Whichever bully is worth punishment he should be punished and whoever is worth compassion he should be given compassion. Forgiveness should be considered the first time. If it keeps repeating, then consider whether punishment is required or compassion.

One more point worth considering is the fact that bullies teach you how to be emotionally strong. This can later help to face life''s problems. But this is not true for every case.

We should be able to get their point of view and the reason behind why they have turned to be like this. Love and Compassion can sought problems at beginner levels. But when, some people go off limits then we have to use some harsh measures.

I agree with the point that compassion, affection and love can make anyone feel pitty even on the most dreadfull act but still such action is not meant for these bullies as they are not worthy of such respect. In case they were affected by such action then they would not have been a bully
