Should T20 Cricket Be A Part Of Olympics?

T20 cricket as a part of the Olympics will attract more viewers towards the event. Cricket is a popular game which definitely no one would like to miss.  It will also help in popularising the game in countries that are not familiar with cricket.

Rather than going for T20, T10 would be a good format to include in the Olympics. Three hours would be too much to ask from spectators for a single match. A T10 game gets over in the same time as a football match. And, it is cost effective! A T10 league was played in Dubai recently. Why not try it out?

I think  cricket has already garnered enough popularity. So, it’s  not a big deal even if it is not included in the Olympics. Let other games flourish and gain people’s support and attention for a change. Cricketers already have a chock-a-block schedule round the year, with many events of different formats. On the other hand, for some sports, Olympics is the sole big platform.

I feel that the primary reason for cricket not being part of olympics is that it has limited popularity at global level. There are hardly 12 countries which end up playing in cricket world cup itself. Within these 12 countries, some of them don''t even have status of playing test cricket. Once cricket is picked up few more countries, we might see a day when cricket is included in olympics list

The reason why cricket is not present in the Olympics is that it is not played by all countries. But today ,even if it''s not played by all countries , it has gained world wide popularity.Therefor introducing cricket in Olympics will definitely increase the popularity of this game and also so many people will also take up a cricket career .

i think even if few countries are participating, cricket had gained enough momentum. other games should be given a chance so that people are motivated to take up new games and their choice gain enough popularity in all parts of the world.

I don''t think it should be a part of Olympics. Cricket doesn''t need unnecessary popularity boosts.

Asmita, I feel that cricket has already gained TOO much popularity and you just cannot say that is unnecessary!

What I feel is that T20 Cricket is a very slow game compared to all the games in the Olympics. Also, its that almost all the sports, excluding football, badminton and tennis there are no tournaments or championships. For example wrestling, which very limited tournaments are held and shooting also. For cricket, every month there is some or other tournament. Olympics makes people prove that they are good in some or other sport.

No . Cricket shouldn''t be a part of Olympics because it has enough popularity all over the world. Also there are different formats to be played in an year itself and introducing cricket in Olympics would be a pressure on the cricketers.

But Rakthaksh, What about Football and Hockey, Aren''t those team games, so basically you are telling that the Olympic committee will have a lot of difficulties giving the medals to those who won it with hard work and determination??

I support this idea of adding T20 cricket as cricket has more than enough fans to be supported. It is famous world wide and gained the popularity just like football. It has got everything that a sport should have like craze, love, bets etc. Maybe there will be a day when cricket will be seen as one of the Olympic games

I fell that the reason behind cricket not being included in the Olympics is that it is a team game. If it was an individual game, the medals could be given to a single person. If it was a team, it would be difficult to crown a single person in the team. Moreover, cricket is only played by a few countries.
