Priyanka Choudhary: Why Do We Make Our Girls Soft And Tender?

This is where all the problems lie. We treat guys and girls differently.  While a boy is free to pick any stream, we ask our girls to limit themselves to certain things — streams that are safe and protected.

Secondly, we hardly teach some values to our boys.  We are constantly telling them to not to cry and be brave, but never to respect girls.

The entire focus of bringing up a girl is to make her soft and tender. Whereas, in case of boys we always ask them to act strong. We can't blame the society for violence against women until and unless we ourselves think and do something about it.

It would be better if we treat our boys and girls equally since childhood.  By doing this we can instill good values in them… something that will facilitate to build better human beings and ultimately a safer society.

I think the parents never advised their boys about how important it is to respect the women kind.In olden days there used to be a big barrier between girls and boys so that they keep a distance. Now if they are treated equally and brought up in the same way, I hope there would be some difference from the social issues happening between men and women nowadays.

It''s hard to understand why the society feels that the girls got to be soft and sophisticated whereas the tough tasks are to be done only by the strapping fellows in the place. This is the stubborn mindset of people and probably also of the older generation who thinks that the girls are made for kitchen and chores that perhaps are somehow related to the domestic field and the guys for the financial settlement of the family.

It is true that girls and boys are not treated equally since childhood. But I think it is time for the girls to be strong and prove themselves so that the society respects them.Girls have to be brave themselves and carve a niche for themselves.

Gender equality has been a major issue in India. The girls shouldn''t be constraint to anybody''s decision as it may result in a lower interest in the stream and she could be stuck in a vicious cycle, of not getting enough grades, leading to admission in lesser premium colleges. Girls also have the equal rights, as the men have. And, we should do this recognizing the potential of her.

Its hard to know why our sophisticated society think that girls are supposed to be soft and tender. I think we girls should be taught basic self- protection measures to protect ourselves, if we find ourselves in a jumble. Come on girls of India you do not need to listen to the society, just listen to your heart and your feelings. Now its summer time I think we girls who do not know techniques to protect ourselves can go for a Karate or and self defence coaching classes and build up ourselves..

This is a very sick and irrelevant idea that the society propogates. A girl or a woman is no less than a man, she is in fact more sensitive to her work, hardworking and creative than a man. There should be no bias on gender in the society. We should understand that women are equally strong and valuable in the world. it is really a feeling of pity when people want to bound women to the four walls of the house. its high time we change our minds and progress in our thoughts.
