No Votes Basis Caste Or Religion: SC- Your Take?

I agree with the Supreme Court's verdict. When a person asks for votes by appealing to people on the basis of certain grounds, they are trying to sway their judgment. The electorate gets biased and does not vote on a candidate's merit, which is more important. It goes against our country’s secular spirit.

Nithya Raghu, class IX, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's PS, Hyderabad

Voting on the basis of any specific criterion like race or religion goes against the national concept of secularism and unity. It leads to the breaking of the foundation on which our country was built. The true spirit of democracy is violated by this corrupt election practice.

Appeal for votes in the name of religion, caste or colour creates an ideological divide between the citizens of a socialist country. Such a practice is destructive in the sense that it widens the rift between identities who normally would work for the common good. I strongly endorse the apex court’s verdict.

In a verdict, SC said that any appeal for votes on the ground of "religion, race, caste, community or language" amounted to "corrupt practice" under the election law. Your views?

Yes, i completely agree this quota based affirmative action is a false practice. Not only it steals the right of the person who is wealthy of the post, but also gives opportunity to a person who is false and undeserving. This illegitimate practice of reservation on the basis of castes should be scrapped ASAP

Voting on basis of caste and religion should be strictly prohibited in India. Our Constitution says that Every person are equal before the eyes of law, but it makes really a corruption to caste-based people. This brakes the laws of the government on which we are about to live in this society.

Nishi Upadhyay BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

well for me that is another line because it doesn''t matter for anyone. Same has been written in our constitution but still major chunk of votes is won in the name of caste and religion. And nothing is done.

Safina Khatri Canossa High School, Mahim

Secularism is what India aims at. Casting votes on the basis of caste or religion will go against the Secularity of India. Also it might cause a person who is not so deserving to come in the authority. It also divides people on the basis of their cast and destroys the unity of the people. In order to respect the secular views of India and our constitution, I totally agree with the court''s verdicts.

I agree with the supreme court''s verdict.Appeal for vote on certain grounds like religion, caste , creed etc creates division and inequality which in turn is a destruction to our national concept of secularism and unity. It will act as a stain on the reputation of our nation. It ,hence, is a corrupt practice.

I strongly support the decision made my SC. Religion should be separated from election .

I AGREE WITH THE SUPREME COURT''S VERDICT.WHEN A PERSON ASKS FOR VOTES BY APPEALING TO PEOPLE ON THE BASIS OF CERTAIN GROUNDS, THEY ARE TRYING TO SWAY THEIR JUDGEMENT. THE ELECTORATE GETS BIASED AND DOES NOT VOTE ON CANDIDATE''S MERIT, WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT. IT GOES AGAINST OUR COUNTRY''S SECULAR SPIRIT.

Emima Thangapandi PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

I completely agree this.If the votes are taken on the ground of religion, caste, race, etc. it is inequality

Thakur Aastha REUBS

That''s wrong to vote on bases of religion. One should vote on bases of how the person will run the government, what''s his behaviour, do that person will help india for development if all this quality exits in a person then definately people should vote him only....
