Nishi Upadhyay: Why We Prefer Private Schools, But Govt Colleges?

In India, there is a trend amongst parents to send their child to private institutions for schooling and government institutions for higher education. Why is it so? What changes after 12th that we fight tooth and nail to get in DU and other government colleges? Is it because the fee structure is less of a burden in government colleges, or is it because the government colleges are more reputed?  Share your thoughts on this issue.

It happens just due to the mindset of people. When a child needs schooling, parents look for the best private school in the are because they want their child to gain the best education, but as the child grows up and its time for him to go to a college, then we often see everyone competing for government colleges, this is because private colleges charge a exorbitant fees and also the study pattern of such colleges is different. Therefore it''s better getting admission to government colleges .

It''s just because many parents cant afford the extremely highly set fees of private colleges.

SRIDHAR KUMAR MODEL MISSION HIGH SCHOOL

now a days many are prefering private schools but it is too expensive and the government is trying to remove private school i prefer to private schools but all the parents want the students be in highly qualified school so i prefer to private schools

PRERNA JOSHI MAYUR PUBLIC SCHOOL(PATPATGANJ)

It''s just that during school days parents prefer better education for their children which they think is there in private schools. They want their kids to learn as good as they can.But upon reaching colleges ,well it''s quite clear that DU holds an excellent standard along with quality education and low fees.So more prefer DU over private universities.

its about the mindset of parents......

we prefer government collage because in india all th indians need government job and a good family so the parents befor eonly the make to study in private schools and then join them in govt. school the mindset of the people is like that to get govt. jobs

Mayank Seth Anandram Jaipuria School

Basically we all study in private schools with better conditions than the government schools . But , when it comes to colleges fees and job placement are two big factors. Government colleges have lesser fees and the chance of nice job placement is far better than that of private colleges.

ALINAWAZ KHAN DL DAV PUBLIC SCHOOL(SHALIMAR BAGH)

Flourishing history of private schools charms the parents to get their wards admitted in private schools.& in order to maintain the dignity of school, private schools'' admin strives hard. On the other hand, private colleges'' admin. concentrate to make money by admitting average category wards of billionaire parents rather to earn by admitting plenty of talented students. While, govt. colleges want talented students as future of nation irrespective of economical background.

Vansh Dala Gopi Birla Memorial School - Walkeshwar

Parents of India are rich enough to afford private school fees, but they aren''t rich enough to pay for private colleges. Most parents choose government collages over private ones due to their low expense. Also they are supported by the government which automatically makes it legal and increases the chance of the child to get the job of a government worker. thus, we can conclude that parents want their kids to aim for the stars

priyanka singhal HILLWOOD ACADEMY(PREET VIHAR)

It''s not about fee structure, if the thing would have been about money then bearing the expense of a private school would have been a burden too. Parents solely wants to ensure a luminous future for their kids and the point lies that graduating from government colleges such as DU gives you a tag of so called superiority and excellence and opens horizons of better opportunities to each individual.

priyanka singhal HILLWOOD ACADEMY(PREET VIHAR)

The problem lies with the job sector who merely have a set line that employing DU graduates will bring laurels to their company but they fail to understand that simply achieving degree''s of a popular government institution isn''t a proof of talent of that person.

Our schooling helps us to modify our personality. At our small age our education and our behaviour is equally important because it is the time to learn those qualities. The final ranking is calculated together. Be it the State, CBSE, ICSE or IGCSE syllabus. So maybe those parents are only conscious about the marks anso they forget about the knowledge.

Many parents prefer Government colleges for education as it paves a good way for their children to make their future bright as the charges are very low.. Government colleges are just a way of giving those students an opportunity who belong to poor family but have high goals and want to do something great for the nation.

chaitanya juneja NAGARJUNA VIDYANIKETAN

parents often prefer private schools for their children so as to provide their child with best education, but in that of govt. colleges because private colleges''s fees is not affordable to them. And it''s all about the affordability of people not mindset.

Himanshi Dhawan Saffron Public School

The Indian parents are highly impressed with private schools. They strongly believe that private schools can provide numerous facilities to their children and can make them reach glorious heights. But the same doesn''t lie with private colleges as they charge an exorbitant fee. Also, government colleges are given paramount importance in India. These are the reasons that forestall parents from getting their wards study in a private school but in a government college.

What really matters is quality education.

SNEHA - R Kulapati munshi bhavan's vidhya mandir

At the starting of the journey of education, parents usually check the quality of education and the type of environment in the schools so that they can provide the best education for their children and their standards are satisfied by private schools but as their children complete their higher secondary education, the fee increases and some parents admit their children to government colleges.

Bhavana Jaison Atomic Energy Central School No 2

I don''t think that parents prefer only private schools. Parents prefer good schools, it can be government , government aided or private schools. Everything depends upon the results , name and fame . Regarding government colleges, one can find highly qualified lectures in almost all government colleges. So its the quality matters.

Kashish Goel Bal Bharati Public School

It is dependent upon mindset of people.

This is also because private colleges have too high fees while govt colleges comparitively have low

KSHITIJ SHAH AMANORA PUBLIC SCHOOL AMANORA PUBLI

It''s all about the mindset of the people. When kids are smaller, people prefer private schools so as to provide the best education and want their ward to be in a safe and hygienic place. It is the place where a child might spend 10 years or more of his life. Therefore, parents will be in a search of a good private school. But when children grow up people prefer government colleges to deburdenise from themselves from the high fees of the private colleges and impart quality knowledge,For eg.-IITs

Because Parents thinks even now that Teachers of govt. school is not sincere to their jobs...they just go to the school and chit chat and increase their attendance counts....No a single teacher bother about the students.....whereas they thinks that the Government colleges are Cheap And college teachers are Answerable to the Head of the College so they teach and take care of students .. and their is also a great demand of Govt. college students as compared to Private college.

Shahnaz Warsi Unity College

When it''s time to go to school we prefer private schools as the pattern of studies in private schools is different and helpful for any competitive exams. But we prefer government colleges because in a very accurate fees we get excellent studies and placement as compared to private colleges.

Aditya Banerjee TAURIAN WORLD SCHOOL - RANCHI

I think this happens because parents look for the best academic facility for their child in their growing stages. After they have gone through this phase parents start looking for colleges or institutes that provide the stream the student prefers. Plus government colleges seem to be a more reputed and offer education at a lower cost. This can lead to parents sending their child to government colleges so that they can fulfill their roles as a parent and moreover as their wards life.

KEWAL THACKER INDIRA NATIONAL SCHOOL INDIRA NATIO

It is just a mindset change which occurs to parents gradually. They start comparing the standards and go for the cheaper alternative.

Harsh M Shah Gopi Birla Memorial School - Walkeshwar

parents send their children to private schools as they offer the best education in good surroundings. for college they prefer governmental colleges as everyone want government jobs

Sneha Sehrawat J.M. INTERNATIONAL SCH00L

Private schools make a strong base. With private coachings one can score good marks and be eligible to have a seat in government colleges. Ultimately its the government who is supposed to give jobs. Every person wants to be a part of DU and JNU more than private colleges. This is because you have high job opportunities in government colleges.

Education is very important.Parents prefer private schools because education is good in private schools as compared to government schools. When children grow up education is costly for them in private .

I think that private schools offer a much luxurious way of teaching. They have all kinds of technologies and I think the children studying in private schools are able to mix up in the society well but children studying in government schools are not able to interact well in the society. Parents prefer government colleges because they are less expensive, offer good education and they have a good reputation in the society.

if private schools offer luxurious way of teaching so does private colleges. They have those high profile students better to say everything ''luxurious'' but still we would like to go to a government college rather than a private college . The reason is more than what we see.

Payal Taparia BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

I think we prefer private schools because of the good quality of education but government because of their reputation.

It is just the mindset of people. The people think that more the fees the better the schools. so they don''t prefer the government schools. But when compared to the government colleges people prefer it more than private colleges as DU will be definetely more preferable than AMITY university.

Dev Kansal BAL BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (PITAM PUR

It is due to mindset of parents.Parents look for best private school as they think that private school will provide them with better education as compared to that of government schools. After 12th the mindset of the parents suddenly gets changed as private colleges demand high fee and their study structure is quiet different whereas parents can afford the fee of government colleges and the way they educate the student is quiet easy and therefore government colleges are more reputed.

Jessica Kabuli CARMEL CONVENT SCH SEC 9 CHD

It is absolutely true that we wish to study in private schools because of the status quo along with the teaching faculty part. The faculty in government schools aren''t checked and they do not pay due attention to the kids. Parents want their children to make contacts with kids of their own status.

Jessica Kabuli CARMEL CONVENT SCH SEC 9 CHD

In colleges we run to DU because it''s the best. The cut-off of all DU Colleges is met by just the cream of the nation. If you tell someone that you are a student of DU the society thinks you''re a child prodigy.

Sakthi Sundaram The Geekay World School -Ranipet

We need the proper education and our parents have to gives us the best education. But as we grow we think that most of the government colleges have less payment than private colleges and most of the government jobs are offered if you studied in government colleges. It''s easier to get admission in government colleges.

Pragadeesh Rj Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School - Puducherry

private school teaches high knowledge with good studies than govt.schools..likewise govt college fees structure is low compared to private colleges.so we prefer private colleges

Sachika Lala BGS National Public School

According to me, the reason behind this is that government colleges such as IIT, IIM and IISc are more reputed than private ones. Getting into these colleges and then studying there shows that lots of hard work and talent have been put into.

Mageshwaran Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

In govt schools there is no quality education but there is high quality education in higher studies. So we prefer private institutions for lower studies and govt. universities for higher studies.

Aryan Duge BLOSSOM SCHOOL

Today, it is a competition between parents or like showing off to send their children to schools with expensive fees. Private schools have expensive fees & good dress code, while government schools have poor education & bad infrastructure. Govt colleges have low fee structure & are reputed , some private colleges are reputed too. It is pride to go to Govt colleges like IIT , COEP & private colleges like BITS, but govt colleges have always the first preference.
