Is The World Headed Towards Religious Extremism?

A five-year-old Sikh boy was denied school enrollment in Australia for wearing a turban. Is the world headed towards religious extremism?

"The world has been witnessing perpetrated violence by fanatics in the name of religion which is dangerous. None of the religious texts advocate this. Interfering with one's religious beliefs at the cost of moral and spiritual values is a serious offence. This should not be tolerated at any cost."
Greeshma D P, class X, KE Carmel Central School, Kuchapuram, Thiruvananthapuram

"It is true the world is headed towards extremism in almost all areas, despite globalisation. Lack of awareness about various cultures, lifestyles and religions is the main reason for such discrimination and can be overcome by self-education. We need to embrace each other as we are."
Vidhatri Rao, class XI, Nasr Girls School, Hyderabad

"It is really ironic how a few Australian elementary schools can have a hat/cap as a part of their uniform but a Sikh student was denied admission for wearing a turban. When it comes to upholding religious sentiments, I fail to understand what goes wrong. It is biased."
Hitanshi Thakkar, class IX, New Horizon Public School, Airoli, Mumbai

yes the world is but this should not be there..

Snegha.L Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Its obvious there are many religious extremes but discrimination among people are not by religion it is by the people who put forth various laws towards such religions. If you take a closer look at this religions all teach us the same values but people of various religions portray this differently.

In a modern world where we speak about democracy, secularism and all, why does this come between? this kind of an attitude should be removed and changed. it is biased.

Prerna Agrawal St. Xaviers High School, Hingna

Wearing a turban or a hat doesn''t matter. We all are living in one sphere that is Earth.Discrimination on the basis of caste is not appropriate. It should be stopped in every part.

AADYA NAIR DDMS P.OBUL REDDY PUBLIC SCHOOL

Todays world is headed for discriminations based on ones religion, i.e religious extremism. We hope that being in the 21st century our modern day people will try to understand the others religious sentiments and be more accepting towards the cultures, traditions, and customs of their religions..

Vinamra Malhotra The Millennium School Surat

According to Section 116 of the Constitution of Australia it precludes that establishing any religion, imposing any religious observance, or prohibiting the free exercise of any religion. It also provides that no religious test shall be required as a qualification for any office or public trust under the Commonwealth. So after making the laws why did these australians denied a Sikh boy ?

It is all because of lack of awareness about the religion... their custom, their culture,etc... I think it should be spread worldwide so that people come to know about it and always respect it and never ever they think to disrespect that after all our country is full of diversity, and religion
