How Active You Are

A study of one million people has found that physical inactivity costs the global economy $67.5 billion a year in healthcare and productivity losses. What’s your take?

Physical inactivity makes you unhealthy and unfit. If we don't take care of ourselves, we will be more vulnerable to diseases and ailments. This will obviously put pressure on our country’s healthcare plans. As citizens it should be our job to take care of ourselves and in the long run contribute to the betterment of our nation.
Millia Dasgupta, class XI, The Heritage School, Kolkata

Physical inactivity and the current lifestyle of people have led to the outbreak of diseases. As a result, there has been a rise in the losses of the healthcare sector. It is time we switched to a healthier way of living, considering that our grandparents were more active than us and disease-free too.
Neha Vasist, class X, NHVPS, Bengaluru

The manifold increase in lifestyle diseases because of the focus on indoor activities has affected the productivity of the nation besides pushing up the losses of the healthcare sector. The need of the hour is to shift the focus to outdoor activities and encourage events like Yoga Day, marathons etc.

"all work and no play makes jack a dull boy". physical activities these days should be made an integral part of the child''s daily schedule. in this fast pacing world, where junk foods have become an inseparable parts of our lives, physical exercises are very important to protect the child from many diseases that are caused by excessive weight of the child

i totally agree with you . Physical inactivity is not only danger to oneself but also to the society . No individual can attain mental peace and happiness if not moving in the society . Children should be forced to play with their peer . This will help then to attain physical and mental growth.

Yes the obesity level has increased considerably .......sometimes problems are small and we evade them till they become big....this is a big problem now ...so many suffer with cardiac diseases and diabetes

Nowadays, because of the inactivity of the people, there is an outbreak of a number of diseases! Exercise should be a mandatory activity in our daily schedule. Especially for people who have really busy lifestyle must take out at least 10 mins everyday. But to be fit, it does not mean that you stop having good food. But there should be a limit of the amount of junk food we are consuming. And being fit is important in today''s world as there are many disadvantages of not being fit.

We should always be physically active. It keeps us away from diseases..
