Can No One Replace Dhoni Till 2019 WC?

Dhoni is the ultimate finisher of a game and there is no one to replace him till the 2019 World Cup, says Virender Sehwag. Do you agree?

I agree with Sehwag. Dhoni is indeed a player who cannot be replaced, whose experience has put him in good stead and his excellent talent has made India proud. He’s the best captain we ever had. All this has made cricket fans pray that Dhoni will make it to the 2019 World Cup.

This is true as we have seen it happen on countless occasions. Many a time, Dhoni has helped raise the score of the Indian team from a dismal one to a match-winning one, single handedly. Knowing that Dhoni is around always gives the team — and fans — hope. So, Sehwag is right in his statement.

Of course there is no one like Dhoni, but the truth is that we have Hardik Pandya as an awesome replacement. He plays any place well and is quite a good finisher as we have seen in the past few matches. He keeps his head straight and is quite a good player.

Recently, he played his 300th ODI in Sri Lanka. This speaks volumes of his experience and dedication towards the sport. I admire MS Dhoni more than Sachin Tendulkar. He''s a star!

Because MS Dhoni has got truckloads of experience, skill and ability, he is, therefore, indispensable and irreplaceable. All of us consider him to be the greatest finishers of all time. More than a wicketkeeper or batsman, I feel I would like him more as a captain. Having bestowed upon India the greatest World Cup victory, I think he will be a sine qua non in the 2019 CWC. I hope he does not retire before that. Stars are born everyday but legends- very occasionally.

The question itself is inevitable assertion. It''s tough to even dream a team without MSD like finisher especially in World Cups. Its seems impossible for someone to be better than MSD in order to replace him. For this, one needs to be 74 times NO and with an average of 101.87+ while chasing target in ODIs. Moreover, 36 yrs age is evident enough to prove his experience. In simple words, one can''t think to replace own BACKBONE, provided having no fatal eagerness!

The jury is still out on whether M.S. Dhoni should be a part of the 2019 World Cup squad but Virender Sehwag strongly feels that the Indian team is “yet to find suitable replacement” for the former skipper.“I don’t think anyone can replace Dhoni at this point of time. Rishabh Pant is good but he would also need time to replace him. That can only happen after 2019. It’s then when we should think about Dhoni’s replacement. Till then let Pant gain experience,” Sehwag told PTI .
