The Benefits Of Reading Daily

This is why you should read every day

And we are not talking about Facebook and Twitter feeds. Do you remember when was the last time you picked up a book to read? If no, then it is high time you should pick up one to stay healthy. Yes, reading helps your mental health.

Apart from transporting you to the worlds unknown, books also help you improve your focus and sleep well. How? Well, read about these benefits reading a book would provide you.

Mental stimulation: Jiggy George, Founder and CEO, Dream Theatre feels, "When a person is reading a book, since he can't see it develop in front of his eyes in the form of video content, a lot is conjured in the mind. This helps open up the mind." Various studies have shown that reading can considerably slower the process of developing Alzheimer's or dementia.

Improves your vocabulary: Our high school teachers may have considered 'classics' the only true literature that can offer vocabulary benefits, but when it comes to reading, there are a host of books that can help you with new words. In short, read, read and read. A good vocabulary will help you not only in your professional space but also in building self-esteem.

Helps you de-stress: Reading takes you to a different world, cutting you off from reality. It can be highly comforting on days when you have had a bad day at work or if you are struggling with personal issues that is offering you no escape. Experts recommend reading silently for six minutes to slow down your heart rate and release tension.

Better focus: Think about a regular day - you are mostly multitasking, handling work emails, checking your social media pages, managing chores and much more. In the long run, it lowers our productivity and declines our ability to focus on one thing at a time. But the dynamics change when you are deeply submerged in a book. You forget about your surroundings and all your attention is focused on the story.

It will help you sleep better: Try including books in your bedtime routine. Make reading the last thing you do before you hit the bed and you will experience some change in the way you sleep.

Do you agree? What are the intangential benefits of reading daily? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section.

Yes I do agree. You should read around at least for 15 mins before bed, it de-stresses you and takes away all tension, problems leaving you behind with thoughts in the book like "What will happen next? Will he fall into the trap?" etc.And you get a good rest as you sleep well. Also it increases vocabulary , when you come across difficult words you look in a dictionary and this helps you in many ways.
